Sweeney				\n				\n				\n				\n																														\n				\n				\n				\n									The Italian Heritage Society of Indiana\, the Carmel Cortona Sister Cities Committee\, and the Carmel Library Foundation are proud to co-host an afternoon author lecture featuring acclaimed writer Jon M. Sweeney on Sunday\, July 19\, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Carmel Clay Public Library on Main Street. \nSweeney\, an internationally recognized author and speaker\, has written extensively on spirituality\, history\, and religion\, including two books focused on Saint Francis of Assisi. The lecture comes during a significant year of worldwide remembrance\, as 2026 marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis. Communities throughout Italy are commemorating his life and legacy\, and local organizations in Carmel are joining in that celebration through cultural and educational programming. \nThe event will explore the enduring influence of St. Francis\, whose messages of peace\, compassion\, humility\, and care for others continue to resonate across cultures and generations. It is free and open to the public\, and all are welcome to attend. Light refreshments and drinks will be provided.
