IHSI Scholarship Awards $7,000 to Local Students
To encourage educational advancement and career development within the community, IHSI sponsors a scholarship program, the Pietro Ferri Italian Heritage Society of Indiana Scholarship. Recently seven local high school students were awarded $1,000 to assist them in their pursuit of higher education:

Nick Bozelli-Levine (Cathedral HS)
Vincenzo Mina (Roncalli HS)
Kathlyn Matthews (Roncalli HS)
Mary Noseti (Warren Central HS)
Dominic Pittman (Roncalli HS)
May Shelburn (Southport HS)
To be eligible for an IHSI scholarship, the applicants met the following criteria:
- Be a high school senior or a recent high school graduate.
- Be of Italian ancestry and be able to identify his/her Italian ancestor(s)
- Scholarships may be awarded only to candidates whose parents have been members for the previous year and are the holders of a current “FULLY PAID FAMILY MEMBERSHIP” as of March 1st of the year in which the candidate makes application to be considered for an award.
- Submit an essay to the scholarship committee entitled: “Why should we have an Italian Heritage Society?”
