
Corporate Member Spotlight | Giuseppe’s Italian Market
In 2018 Giuseppe’s started selling Marinara sauce, frozen in plastic containers. At that time Giuseppe’s was known for lasagna, with very little thought of the potential sauce business.
Giuseppe’s has developed a lineup of small batch, premium artisan, sauces.
Giuseppe’s unique marinara sauce was sold at the Carmel (Indiana) Farmers Market, frozen in plastic containers. Other vendors at the market suggested that Joe put the sauce in jars.
In February of 2021 Giuseppe’s first sample was returned from a food scientist and soon after the Marinara sauce was in jars, it was closely followed by Arrabbiata and Fra Diavolo.
Therefore, learning about Bar Codes, Nutrition Labeling and labeling in general began.
August 2021 Giuseppe’s sauces, Marinara, Arrabbiata and Fra Diavolo appeared on the shelf, in our first grocery store, in Carmel, Indiana, during the store’s grand opening.
During that first sampling for the grand opening, Giuseppe’s was invited to be in another “sister” store. In September of 2021 Giuseppe’s original three varieties were available in two locations, in Central Indiana. Approximately 6 months later, Giuseppe’s was invited to two more locations, in Central Indiana. In 2022 Giuseppe’s requested to have our sauces in 2 more locations of the same grocery group, and suddenly we were in 6 Locations.
October of 2023 Giuseppe’s approached the store manager of another grocery chain in Central Indiana to learn more about appearing in their stores. The realization began that this is becoming a real sauce business, and Giuseppe’s began the process of learning about the “system” of being in the grocery business. In January of 2024 Giuseppe’s received the clearance to start delivering to our next group of stores in Indiana. Giuseppe’s added 10 more stores from that group to the list of locations that have our sauces available.
In February of 2024 Giuseppe’s samples were sent out of state to a company planning their first location in Indiana and in March met a representative of that same company, at the Carmel Farmers Market, in April of 2024 Giuseppe’s was invited to be in their first location in Indiana and participate in their grand opening. In December Giuseppe’s was invited to be in their locations in Illinois.
While visiting the Illinois stores, other locations have since added Giuseppe’s products. As of January of 2025 Giuseppe’s, as well as having multiple locations in Central Indiana also have our sauces available in locations in Champaign, Springfield, Danville and Tilton Illinois.
While attempting to grow the number of locations for Giuseppe’s to be available in two more varieties of our sauce have been added, The Giuseppe’s current lineup of sauces available are Arrabbiata, (16 oz. and 24 oz.) Fra Diavolo (16 oz.) Garlic Alfredo (16 oz.) Marinara (16 oz. and 24 oz.) and Vodka (16 oz.)
During this period of expansion and growth in the sauce business, Giuseppe’s is still present every Saturday morning, at the Carmel Framers Market May through September and October through March, with our sauces and our frozen Italian foods.
Giuseppe’s sauces are currently available in select Fresh Thyme, Harvest Market, Meijer and Needler’s stores in Central Indiana and Harvest Market, Niemann’s and County Market stores in Illinois
