Our Lady’s Chapel in the Meadow, Camp Atterbury, Indiana, Memorial,

Mass and Pitch in Picnic

Ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m., with the posting of the colors by a military honor guard, and singing of the National Anthem, the Italian National Anthem, followed by an introductory program.

Catholic Mass will begin at 11 am, at the historic Italian POW chapel grounds.

This 35th annual Mass will take place before the tiny chapel built in 1943 by Italian POWs in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Camp Atterbury Memorial Association will host a pitch-in lunch at the Camp Atterbury Museum and Welcome Center, immediately after the Mass. Lunch staples will be provided by Board Member Matthew Iaria of Iaria’s Restaurant in Indianapolis. Please bring a

covered dish, salad, or dessert.

World War II military reenactors, featuring Italian war memorabilia will be present.

To arrive at the Chapel in the Meadow, please follow I-65 South to the Edinburgh/Flatrock Exit 76 and turn right to Edinburgh to follow signs for Indiana 252 through Edinburgh and onto Camp Atterbury and follow signs to the POW CHAPEL on Stone Arch Road.
