The Etruscans were master traders, artisans, and builders, directly influencing the Romans before succumbing to them.  The Etruscans planted the first vines in Italy and their brilliant civilization while mysterious, left behind remnants of their culture that endure 3,000 years later.

The city of Cortona was an important Etruscan city in ancient times, and still preserves its charming medieval character and Etruscan history.

The Society’s lectures are free and open to the public. Refreshments are served.

Dr. Michael Seaman is Associate Professor of Classical Studies and Italian Studies at DePauw University.
