Ciao tutti,

What a fantastic summer this has been. The IHSI events from the wine paring dinner at Matteo’s to the Bocce Tournament and picnic along with the Holy Rosary Italian Street Festival and of course the annual Pietro Ferri Golf Tournament benefiting the Society scholarship program were all a great success.  These events not only provided a wonderful opportunity to interact with other Society members celebrating Italian heritage and culture, but also helped to fund our many programs and events. Your continued support and participation is very much appreciated and the reason for its success. It should also be mentioned that Mario Vian will soon be announcing the details on the annual Chapel in the Meadow event at Camp Atterbury. It is a no cost event to which all are invited. It commemorates those who constructed the Chapel which was so crucial to their culture, faith and history which we celebrate today. Look for this on the IHSI website and social media.

Please be sure to save the date of October 15, 2023. The Society will be celebrating its 30th anniversary, Italian Heritage Month and of course Columbus Day. This extravaganza will be held at the Capri Ristorante at 2602 Ruth Dr., Indianapolis, IN. The event will not only feature a great dinner but also provide some impressive entertainment along with a fun display of Italian auto engineering as guests approach the restaurant. More details will be soon be released.

Special thanks to Matt Iaria and David Page in continuing to spearhead the annual Pietro Ferri Golf Tournament which is so important to funding our scholarship program. The event is named in memory of the late Pietro Ferri. Pietro, a native of Rome Italy was one of the Society’s founding members and who contributed so much of himself to it. The Society is also very grateful to all those that participated and sponsored the tournament. This year’s event received a noteworthy mention in the Southsider Voice neighborhood newspaper, along with a memorable photo. On behalf of the Italian Heritage Society of Indiana I also extend the organization’s deep appreciation to those businesses who have become corporate sponsors. Their recognition of the work it does and what IHSI represents is so important not only within the Italian American community but the community they serve and in which we all live. Please be sure to extend your appreciation to these businesses when you visit them. To all our corporate sponsors: Stillpoint Family Chiropractic Inc, Crystal Signature Events, Exit 76 Antique Mall/ Bloomington Antique Mall, Joe’s Butcher Shop, Angelo’s Italian Market, The Pig’s Tale Charcuterie and Total Exterminating, tanti grazie.

Grazie,

Ralph Tambasco,
President
